Valhalla Angels is one of Canada’s most active angel investment group with their Founder, R. Stewart Thompson, named Angel of The Year for 2018. The forum was established in 2003 with members having biotech, real-estate, oil & gas, health & life sciences, hospitality & transportation and, information & communication technologies backgrounds. Today, their membership continues to grow, bringing a diverse group of investors together, from a variety of backgrounds and experiences who are looking to diversify their investment portfolio while supporting he start-up ecosystem. In August 2017, Valhalla Private Capital was launched as a result of the organic growth from Valhalla Angels, to meet the needs of the entire lifecycle for both businesses and investors.

The company has expanded beyond its Halifax headquarters with an office in Toronto to support growth. Cribcut reports more than 40% monthly client and revenue growth over the last six months and stylists on the platform have completed roughly 6,000 appointments. Stylists using the platform are represented in 27 U.S. states and four Canadian provinces. The team currently numbers 10 employees and the company plans to increase headcount by about 50% across its Halifax and Toronto offices over the next nine months. The funding will be used to finance expansion across Canada and the United States.

    Innovative Trauma Care is an Edmonton, Canada–based early-stage medical device company founded in 2010 that develops point-of-injury solutions to reduce preventable deaths from traumatic injury. Its flagship product is the ITClamp™ Hemorrhage Control System, designed to address massive hemorrhage. The company has U.S. headquarters in San Antonio, Texas, and is led by Dennis F. Filips (Vice-Chairman, President, and Chief Medical Officer). In its second financing the company raised $1.1M from members of the VA Angels. Proceeds will be used to expand sales and marketing efforts, fully commercialize the product, reduce cost of goods, and move the company toward profitability. Innovative Trauma Care develops point-of-injury medical devices to treat traumatic hemorrhage across trauma, first responder, and military medicine applications. Its lead product, the ITClamp Hemorrhage Control System, seals the skin to create a temporary pressurized pool that forms a stable clot and can control massive bleeding in as little as five seconds. The company closed a Series A financing of $3.64 million to prepare to commercialize the ITClamp. ITC received a license for sale from Health Canada in September 2012 and expects a CE Mark from the EU in late 2012 and U.S. FDA clearance in 2013. Incorporated in 2010, the company is based in Edmonton, Canada with a U.S. headquarters in San Antonio, Texas. ITC develops, manufactures, and plans to commercialize point-of-injury solutions addressing preventable deaths from traumatic injury.
