Overview
GENIUS Venture Capital is established on the initiative of the Federal State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It is a subsidiary of Technologie- und Gewerbezentrum e.V. Schwerin/Wismar. They fund innovation-driven technology companies in their startup or early growth stage. To date, GENIUS together with several private investors spent a total of around 70 million euros on financing 25 companies. They are currently managing two venture capital funds on behalf of the Ministry of Economics, Employment and Health of the State Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

Founded in 2020 by Laura Gertenbach and Patrick Inomoto, Innocent Meat builds integrated production systems that automate every step of cultured-meat manufacturing—from cell isolation and growth in nutrient media through final tissue differentiation. The company’s modular platform is designed so traditional meat processors can add cultivated-meat lines without undertaking their own R&D or hiring specialized talent. Its software-driven approach relies on established market solutions, lowering both technical barriers and cap-ex for partners. Innocent Meat is channeling new capital into a first demonstration facility, the build-out of scalable production infrastructure, and the pursuit of regulatory approvals in initial target markets. Management targets commercial market entry in 2028. The latest €6 million raise brings additional resources alongside prior backing from GENIUS Venture Capital GmbH, though no revenue or user metrics have yet been disclosed.
