Puro.earth operates a carbon-crediting platform that issues CO2 Removal Certificates (CORCs) under the Puro Standard for durable carbon dioxide removal (CDR). Via its methodologies it certifies suppliers that store removed CO2 in durable storages for at least 100 years and records issued CORCs in the transparent Puro Registry. Corporations such as Microsoft, Shopify, and Zurich Insurance purchase CORCs to address climate change and neutralize residual emissions. In 2021 Nasdaq acquired a majority stake in Puro.earth. The company raised €11M in a Series B and intends to use the funds to strengthen the infrastructure that supports its certification journey for suppliers. Puro.earth is based in Helsinki, Finland.
