Inviol builds an AI computer-vision system—combining a 50X HD camera, sensors and deep-learning—to detect unsafe behaviour and physical risks in loading zones, warehouses and manufacturing sites and to send alerts and training messages. The technology traces back to founder Tane van der Boon’s prior Maui63 work using AI to track dolphins; he applied the same “using computers to see” approach to workplace safety. Early customers include Woolworths (Countdown), Placemakers and Vulcan Steel at sites in Auckland and Melbourne. Inviol counts Spark (IoT), nVidia, Microsoft, Vulcan and AWS as key technology partners. Van der Boon remains the single largest shareholder with a 39% stake, and Vulcan’s CIO and health & safety head James Wells has joined Inviol’s board. The company plans to use the new funding to scale the business, expand further into Australia and make a push into the US.
