Senzo Health is a London-based life sciences company developing diagnostic technologies. Led by Jeremy Stackawitz, Senzo is building a laboratory-accurate lateral flow test designed to deliver PCR-level accuracy in about 10 minutes. The company is progressing assays for a wide range of high-need applications including RSV, Influenza A/B, COVID-19, STIs, tuberculosis, hepatitis B and C, antimicrobial resistance, HIV, C. difficile/Staph/MRSA, Lyme disease, and veterinary and environmental/industrial uses. Senzo raised an additional $1.8M in funding, with the backers not disclosed. It intends to use the funds to expand operations and continue its development efforts. The product targets scenarios where laboratory diagnostics are currently too slow or too expensive for many infections and patients. Senzo is a Philadelphia-based in vitro diagnostics company developing mobile, point-of-care and self-testing products and devices. Led by CEO Jeremy Stackawitz, the company focuses on tests that can be conducted where healthcare professionals and patients need them most. Senzo recently raised an additional $1.9M in equity funding to support near-term product and regulatory work. The funds will be used to complete validation, execute clinical trials, secure FDA EUA authorization, and scale manufacturing for the ALF COVID-19 test. Senzo also plans to advance R&D for new Flu A/B, RSV, Tuberculosis, HIV, Hepatitis-C, and Strep tests. The company expects to complete ALF COVID-19 clinical trials and obtain FDA EUA in 1H 2023, with commercial availability in 2H 2023. Senzo develops at-home diagnostics, notably an Amplified Lateral Flow (ALF) COVID-19 antigen test designed to deliver PCR-comparable accuracy. In a blind study led by the University of Sheffield the ALF test returned 100% accuracy on 25 positive and 25 negative samples, produced results in about 10 minutes, and detected PCR Ct values between 30 and 38. The nearly 20-person company, with offices in Newtown (Bucks County) and London, aims to bring the test through regulatory approval and to market later this year. The company will use new capital to expand manufacturing capacity and to advance development of additional at-home tests for influenza, HIV, tuberculosis, strep, hepatitis C, and other STIs. Senzo raised $2 million in equity from investors led by BioAdvance with participation from Wellness Coaches to fund these efforts. CEO Jeremy Stackawitz, who joined in October 2021, says the startup's vision is to make diagnosis as fast, simple, inexpensive, and accurate as routine vital signs.
