Founded in 2021 after completing the Alacrity Foundation programme, Newport-based Validient offers an automated compliance management and due diligence system for law firms and regulated businesses across the UK. The company was founded by Ieuan Leigh, Katie Turnbull, Thomas Elliott and Gareth Williams and received strategic support from Capital Law during the 15-month programme. Validient is the only Welsh tech company to secure a place on the LawtechUK Programme. Management says the new funding will be used to further develop the product and invest in sales resources to support UK-wide expansion. Financially, the business secured a second investment of £300,000 in this round and has prior backing from the same investors.

Its flagship HYAS Protect combines infrastructure expertise and multi-variant communication pattern analysis to preemptively detect and block phishing, ransomware, and other attacks at the network layer. HYAS Insight helps SOC and fraud teams speed investigations and reduce threat and fraud costs, and the company also provides intelligence services to accelerate cyber investigations. The company has built what it describes as arguably the world’s largest data lake of attacker infrastructure, including extensive domain-based intelligence. HYAS reports multiple Fortune 100 companies among its customers and plans to use new funding to accelerate product development and global market expansion. HYAS develops the Comox attribution intelligence engine and related online detection, analysis and investigation tools for cybersecurity teams. Its proprietary database contains billions of cybercrime indicators, with millions of new data points added every day, and serves Fortune 100 companies. HYAS plans to expand Comox into a holistic platform and to launch Saltspring, a cloud-based tool that delivers real-time early warnings of global attacks. The company emphasizes pinpointing perpetrators and collaborates with clients and international law enforcement. HYAS recently entered a financing agreement to support aggressive product development and platform expansion. The company previously raised a $6.7 million Series A led by M12, Microsoft’s venture fund, with additional funding from Susa Ventures. HYAS develops attribution intelligence tools and its flagship Comox platform to give analysts real-time visibility and attribution into cyber attacks. HYAS focuses on pinpointing perpetrators of digital attacks and works closely with clients and international law enforcement to pursue cybercriminals. HYAS Infosec provides cloud-based cyber-threat intelligence and protection services to OEMs, enterprises, SMBs and consumers. Founded in 2014 by chief technologist Chris Davis and based in Victoria, BC, the company offers two core services: Saturna DNS for OEM and enterprise protection and Borderless Internet for consumer and SMB online threat protection. Both products are powered by Comox, a deep-analysis threat-intelligence platform built on HYAS’s proprietary historical database containing billions of Internet domains, addresses and malware samples. Customers include large information-security firms and Fortune 500 companies. Following a seed financing led by Wesley Clover International, the company intends to use the funds to increase R&D investment and expand market-development activities. FileFacets provides a cloud data analytics and content migration platform that automates categorization of data, attribution of file metadata, and the migration of unstructured content from multiple sources into structured enterprise content management systems (ECMs). Its solution can access and scan files without interruption, detect duplicate files before moving them, and analyze and leverage file metadata. Led by co-founder and CEO Chris Perram, the company uses automation to manage and migrate large volumes of unstructured content. FileFacets raised $4m in a Series A round led by Celtic House Venture Partners with participation from Wesley Clover International and GCI Ventures Ltd. It intends to use the funds to expand its sales and marketing team in North America and accelerate growth of its channel sales strategy. The company is based in Ottawa, Canada.

AirVM offers AirSembly, a cloud management platform purpose-built for VMware that lets service providers sell, provision, manage and bill for cloud services through diverse distribution models. Led by CEO and founder Joshua Vautour and based in Ottawa, Ontario, the company serves thousands of service providers, resellers and customers who have processed millions of transactions on the platform. The firm intends to deepen integration with VMware technologies and broaden support for third‑party public clouds such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. AirVM also plans integration work with other cloud technologies including OpenStack and Microsoft Hyper-V. The company will invest the new capital into its sales, support and engineering teams to support those product and integration efforts. The announcement notes a recent $8.0M Series A close to fund these initiatives.
