PatientKeeper provides physician-focused healthcare information systems, including CPOE, medication reconciliation, electronic physician documentation, charge capture and other workflow applications. Its software runs on desktops, laptops and handheld devices and integrates with existing hospital information systems. PatientKeeper’s products help hospitals meet Meaningful Use requirements and support the transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10. The company reports more than 40,000 physicians using its software daily and over 400 hospital customers across the U.S. and U.K.; sixty-nine hospitals have selected its advanced clinical applications as their meaningful-use solution. PatientKeeper plans to continue investing in product development and expand its professional services organization to meet growing market demand. PatientKeeper is a Newton, MA–based provider of integrated physician information systems focused on physician documentation and computerized physician order entry (CPOE) applications. The company closed a $13M financing composed of equity and venture debt to fund product and service growth. The equity round was led by current investors Flybridge Capital Partners, New Enterprise Associates and Whitney & Company, while venture debt was provided by Lighthouse Capital Partners. PatientKeeper plans to accelerate development of its physician documentation and CPOE applications in advance of the Meaningful Use requirements of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The company will also build out service and support capabilities to support its growth. In connection with the financing, PatientKeeper is adding Chip Hazard of Flybridge Capital Partners to its board. CEO Paul Brient said the company made the investment to capitalize on increased demand for applications that drive physician adoption of technology.
