Overview

DirectMoney combines retail investment and lending services in a unified service platform. It enables investors to directly invest in personal loans via a regulated investment product. Investors buy units in the DirectMoney Personal Loan Income Fund. Successful borrowers enter into loan contracts managed by DirectMoney. Borrower interest is paid to investors after deducting of loan losses and management fees. Borrowers with good credit and employment history will be offered rates that are priced according to their credit rating. This is an innovation in the Australian market where lenders usually offer only one rate based on a single credit grade. DirectMoney is positioned at the at the regulated mainstream end of the peer-to-peer (P2P) lending industry.

Fresh Equities is a Melbourne-based investment technology startup founded in 2017 by Ben Williamson and Rhys Davis. The company combines proprietary technology and strategies used by large investment houses to help retail investors access opportunities from ASX100 and ASX300 firms as well as small-cap and micro-cap listed stocks. Fresh has enabled over 1,000 transactions and provided companies access to a combined total of $450 million, with its volume increasing 15× in two years. The company plans to use new funding to expand its technological capabilities, introduce features that help small-cap company leaders understand and interact with investors directly, and to establish an underwriting business to underwrite transactions for emerging and growth companies. Following the round, Wisr CEO Anthony Nantes will join Fresh as an adviser to the CEO. Archangel Ventures’ backers described Fresh as bringing "order and ethics to the chaos of listed fundraising in Australia using smart technology."
