- Advanced BioDesign
Led · Equity · Feb 2020
Advanced BioDesign, founded in 2010 and based in Lyon, France, develops an innovative targeted therapy to treat resistant cancers with a first indication in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Its main anti‑cancer compound, ABD‑3001, is a first‑in‑class suicide inhibitor of aldehyde dehydrogenases 1 & 3 (ALDH1 & ALDH3) that induces apoptosis in cancer cells while sparing healthy cells. ABD‑3001 is currently in the preclinical stage. The company plans to submit its regulatory file to the French National Agency for Medicines and Health Products Safety (ANSM) in 2020 and is preparing to enter Phase I clinical trials in early 2021. Advanced BioDesign intends to use the new funds for clinical development, finalization of preclinical studies, and submission of a clinical trial authorization for AML. The company is led by CEO Ismail Ceylan.
- Sevenhugs
Led · Equity · Dec 2019
Sevenhugs develops the Smart Remote, a consumer electronics remote integrating an ultra-precise indoor positioning technology. The company was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Paris, France, with a research, development and AI center in Paris, a Sales and Marketing division in San Francisco, and production in China. Its technologies are protected by more than 26 international patents, three of which have already been delivered. Sevenhugs has 45 employees across its functions. The company plans to use new funding to further develop and distribute its smart home solutions in the U.S. and globally. Leadership includes CEO Simon Tchedikian, COO Stéphane Jaubertou, CTO Julien Colafrancesco and VP Engineering Baptiste Daroussin. Sevenhugs is a French startup building smart-home hardware, including the hugOne sleep-tracker and a universal smart-remote. The remote is designed to let users point at devices—TVs, Philips Hue lights, Nest thermostats—to control them. The company aims to enable devices from disparate ecosystems to interact intuitively rather than relying on smartphones as hubs. Sevenhugs closed a $14.6M Series A led by Xerys and will use the new capital to generate brand awareness and prepare a U.S. launch. It is opening a U.S. office in San Francisco to support that expansion. The company positions its products to create a more connected, reactive home experience and joins device makers like Misfit and Hello with its sleep-tracker.
