Alesi Surgical develops smoke management systems for operating theatres using electrostatic precipitation, marketed as the Ultravision and Ultravision2 platforms. The first-generation Ultravision System has been used in more than 50,000 keyhole laparoscopic and robotic procedures in Europe, the US and Japan. Independent studies cited by the company report smoke removal up to 225-times faster than competing technologies and CO₂ usage reductions in laparoscopic procedures of up to 82 percent. Ultravision2 is cleared for use in open surgery as well as minimally invasive procedures and is FDA-approved and CE-marked. The Ultravision2 System also supports Alesi’s own surgical tools that combine smoke management with tissue dissection functionality. Following the £7 million raise, the company plans to use proceeds to expand internationally and further develop the Ultravision2 platform.
