AMLo Biosciences is a spin-out from Newcastle University that builds a prognostic 'rule-out' test called AMBLor to identify genuinely low-risk, early-stage melanomas. The test aims to enable risk stratification and more targeted, personalised management of skin cancers, reducing unnecessary invasive surveillance and patient anxiety. The company says AMBLor can accurately identify low-risk early-stage melanomas, potentially sparing thousands of patients from invasive follow-up. AMLo has completed scientific validation and a successful pilot launch in the U.K., and is using new funds to complete essential clinical studies. The proceeds are intended to generate the evidence required for inclusion in clinical guidelines and to support launches in the U.K. and U.S. in 2022 and Australia in 2023. Leadership includes CEO and co-founder Dr Marie Labus.
