Apeiron Synthesis
ul. Duńska 9, Wrocław, Dolnoslaskie, 54-427, Poland
Overview
Apeiron Synthesis produces a ruthenium-based catalyst powder for olefin-based metathesis reactions, developed from research following a Nobel Prize discovery. The company has set up production lines and says the powder currently costs up to €70,000 to produce. Apeiron reports its catalyst reduces process phases from 20 to 16 and can lower clients' production costs by about 20%, equating to roughly €20 million in annual savings for customers. A leading Polish corporate, PKN Orlen, has agreed to deploy the technology in its petrochemicals division, providing an early commercial partner. The research team was mentored by professor Karol Grela at the Polish Academy of Sciences. Apeiron aims to secure a niche in metathesis catalysts alongside existing suppliers as global demand grows.
