  • Apeiron Synthesis

    Participated · Equity · Dec 2022

Apeiron Synthesis produces a ruthenium-based catalyst powder for olefin-based metathesis reactions, developed from research following a Nobel Prize discovery. The company has set up production lines and says the powder currently costs up to €70,000 to produce. Apeiron reports its catalyst reduces process phases from 20 to 16 and can lower clients' production costs by about 20%, equating to roughly €20 million in annual savings for customers. A leading Polish corporate, PKN Orlen, has agreed to deploy the technology in its petrochemicals division, providing an early commercial partner. The research team was mentored by professor Karol Grela at the Polish Academy of Sciences. Apeiron aims to secure a niche in metathesis catalysts alongside existing suppliers as global demand grows.

Telemedico provides a plug-and-play, white-label telemedicine SaaS platform for insurance companies and other enterprise customers, offering consultations via chat, video and telephone, AI triaging, booking of in-person visits and medical documentation storage. Founded in 2014 and shifted to a B2B model in 2017, the company emphasizes a modular platform that can be integrated or run standalone and includes an "insurance product creator" for insurers. Telemedico says 2020 was a record year with one million consultations in a 12-month period, more than 900,000 patients to date, over 600 doctors on the platform, and 2.5 million total appointments; it reports over 100,000 consultations per month and projects 250,000 by end of 2021. The business has grown 3x year-over-year since 2018 and is active in 14 markets, supporting consultations in 10 languages with plans to add more. Its customer base includes insurers such as PZU, Allianz, AXA, Metrored, Compensa and TU Zdrowie, plus health ministries and more than 50 other insurance and medical assistance companies. The company expects to double its ~60-person team and is focused on international expansion, language support and growth in new markets including LatAm.
