Overview

Atto operates a credit and risk platform that combines bank data, unique insight engines and advanced modelling to give decision makers a comprehensive view across the credit lifecycle. The company obtains data, with explicit consent, directly from consumers' bank accounts, which it says is real-time, verified and incorruptible. Atto’s insights enable faster, more accurate and personalised credit decisions than traditional credit-reference or self-declared information. The platform powers some of the world’s largest brands and serves banking, consumer and SME lending, utilities, gambling and gaming, the gig economy and other sectors. Based in the UK, Atto reports over 13,000 bank connections giving access to 1.5bn users in more than 45 countries and has doubled both headcount and revenue over the last year. The company completed a $3M bridge round to fund ambitious growth plans and international expansion. MiiCard provides an online identity verification service that validates users by linking to their online bank accounts and other accounts rather than relying solely on self-attested information. The system uses Yodlee for its banking connectivity and is VeriSign Trusted and TRUSTe certified. Users can attach social networking accounts and place their MiiCard on marketplaces or profiles (for example eBay, Craigslist, or Twitter). The company recently launched a third-party Twitter validation system to let any user verify their account. MiiCard currently operates in North America, the U.K., South Africa, India, Australia, and New Zealand and is negotiating partnerships with banks. The company plans to use its new funding to move into the U.S. market. Owned and managed by the individual, miiCard provides a digital passport that allows consumers to track, monitor and take control of their online identity in real time. The service is planned to launch in beta before the 2011 Christmas retail season. Consumer access will cost £1 a month, with vendors charged on a transactional basis. The company completed a management buyout in conjunction with its fundraising. In the transaction James Varga, the founder, was appointed CEO. The company is based in Edinburgh, UK.
