Cano-ela
Nieuwe Kazernelaan 2-D42, Ede, Gelderland, 6711 JC, The Netherlands
Overview
Cano-ela, founded in 2020 and based in Ede in the Food Valley, processes oil-rich seeds to recover proteins, carbohydrates, and fats otherwise lost in conventional oil extraction. The company produces three ingredients—cano-cream, cano-soluble and cano-fiber—designed to improve taste, texture, and nutrition in foods and alternative proteins. Cano-ela positions these natural extracts as clean-label substitutes for synthetic emulsifiers, stabilisers, and texturisers. The startup says its approach addresses a roughly 40% loss of potential food ingredients from current processing methods. With recent funding, Cano-ela plans to upgrade its pilot facility, increase production capacity, and accelerate collaborations with food producers. Previous investments enabled proof-of-concept work and R&D as the company moves toward commercial launch.
