Overview
Chiper is a Colombia-based e-commerce ecosystem that digitalizes procurement for Latin American corner stores, offering access to thousands of products with lower prices and often same-day delivery. Founded in 2018, it is the primary supplier and operating system for over 40,000 corner stores. The platform carries about 3,000 SKUs and reached 10,000 orders per day in the third quarter, and the company reported sevenfold revenue growth in the last 12 months. To date Chiper has raised more than $65 million, including a $12 million Series A in October 2020 and a recent $53 million Series B. The new capital will support expansion into Brazil, add roughly 2,000 products, launch embedded financial services, and grow the team toward 650 employees by year end. Chiper aims to reach 100,000 stores within a broader Latin American market of more than 3.7 million corner stores that together generated about $330 billion in annual revenue (projected to approach $500 billion). Chiper operates an e-commerce platform enabling independent corner stores in Latin America to grow their businesses by digitizing ordering and supply. The company has built a large branded network of digitized corner stores and serves over 3,000 customers across Colombia and Mexico. Chiper currently has a presence in Colombia and Mexico and plans to expand further within Mexico and into Brazil. The company aims to increase its active user base to over 30,000 users, targeting roughly 5% market penetration by the end of 2021. Leadership is led by CEO Jair Bonilla with co‑founders COO Oscar Sarria and CRO Carolina Garcia. The business will use new funding to accelerate user acquisition, geographic expansion and platform growth.
