Overview
contextflow is a spinoff from the Medical University of Vienna that applies AI and a 3D image-based search engine to analyse 3D medical images such as CT scans and MRIs. Its platform is currently used by radiologists examining lung CT scans and can identify 19 distinct patterns, including those related to COVID-19. The company positions its product as a clinical support system unique in its ability to detect and search for disease patterns in 3D images. With the new funding, contextflow plans to develop products for a wider range of organs and expand further into the European market. It is also pursuing FDA approval to enable entry into the US market. The company raised a Series A to support these product and market expansion efforts. contextflow is a Vienna-based spin-off from the Medical University of Vienna supported by the Technical University of Vienna. Its core product is AI software that, when a radiologist marks a region of interest (currently focused on lung CTs), retrieves visually similar reference cases and relevant medical literature within seconds. The system is designed to integrate into radiologists' routine workflow to reduce time spent on difficult diagnostic cases and avoid manual searches across multiple sources. The company is testing a 3D image search with seven international partner hospitals and clinics. Contextflow plans to use new capital to obtain CE certification and to accelerate international proof-of-concept (POC) projects. POCs with seven clinics in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Croatia are underway prior to planned broader international scaling.
