Investors in the round included three Japanese backers — including NTT — with past investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Accel Partners also participating. DocuSign operates an electronic signature and digital transaction management platform used by businesses and individual users. The company says it has 95,000 business customers and about 48 million users across 188 countries, with more than 40,000 new users signing up daily. DocuSign plans to use new funding to speed product innovation, deepen vertical industry solutions, grow strategic partnerships, and accelerate international expansion. Leadership frames the financing as positioning the company for long-term sustainable growth while continuing to focus on building value for customers, partners, employees, and investors. Company executives have said they are not interested in being acquired and view an IPO as a possible financing event in the future. DocuSign provides a legally binding, secure, cloud-based platform for collecting information and obtaining electronic signatures to replace printing, faxing, scanning and overnighting documents. The company’s core product is an eSignature transaction-management network used by consumers, individual professionals, business departments and global enterprises. DocuSign reported 20 million users, more than 150 million documents processed in 188 countries, 60,000 new users joining the network every business day, and 1.4 million paying users, including employees at 90% of the Fortune 500. The company says customers use the platform to accelerate transactions, reduce costs, and automate business processes across industries and departments. DocuSign plans to use new financing to accelerate growth of the DocuSign Global Network through increased customer-focused R&D, deeper vertical industry solutions, and faster international expansion.
