Emergent offers an AI-driven coding platform aimed at entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized businesses, positioning itself as an "engineering team in a box" that handles deployment, hosting, testing, and debugging alongside code generation. The startup was founded in June last year by Mukund Jha and his brother Madhav Jha and is headquartered with most employees in Bengaluru. Emergent reports an annual run-rate revenue of $120 million, up 70% in the past four months, and has more than 200,000 paying customers. Its customer base spans industries such as trucking, manufacturing, construction, and property management, with roughly one-third of revenue from North America, one-third from Europe, and about 8–9% from India. The company competes with developer-focused tools like Replit and AI coding offerings from OpenAI, Anthropic, and others, and plans to support more complex applications and local/open-source models as it scales. It currently has about 200 employees and intends to expand its San Francisco office by 30–40 people by year-end.
