Overview
Fixposition develops high-precision global positioning products that combine computer vision techniques and satellite navigation to deliver accuracy in open fields and GNSS-challenging environments. Its product Vision-RTK2, launched in March this year, improved performance and added a richer interface to meet customer needs. Vision-RTK2 also integrates inertial sensors, wheeled odometers, and machine-learning algorithms to address GNSS blocking/reflection and harsh-light issues for visual odometry. The company says its technology expands GNSS-based positioning to more scenarios to help customers optimize autonomous driving solutions more cost-effectively. Over the past five years Fixposition has continuously improved Vision, IMU and GNSS deep-fusion technology and more than ten companies worldwide, including in the US and China, already use the technology. Fixposition says the recent investment will support its next steps and further product advancements. Fixposition develops centimeter- to decimeter-level global positioning solutions by fusing satellite GNSS with computer vision and machine learning. Its Vision-RTK 2 is a low-power, compact industrial-grade sensor aimed at autonomous delivery and logistics vehicles, agriculture, mowing and landscaping machines, and other applications requiring uninterrupted precise positioning. The Vision-RTK 2 has launched with positive market feedback. Fixposition plans to use newly raised funds to build a stronger sales pipeline and enable mass production, targeting more contracts over the next two years. The company also intends to drive further innovation and refine its technology to simplify integration and prepare for more design-ins. Financially, the extension is presented as part of the seed financing the company raised previously ($5.95 million in October 2021). Fixposition develops deep sensor fusion of RTK-GNSS, IMU, and computer vision to deliver reliable centimeter-accurate positioning where GNSS is degraded or denied. Its core product targets autonomous navigation applications across vehicles and robots, offering a lower-cost alternative to lidar for position awareness. The company cites customers such as Neolix and PIX Moving who are using its technology in robotics. Fixposition began as an ETH Zurich spin-off founded by two ETHZ graduates and its team includes veterans from u-blox and ZF alongside global engineers. With new funding, the company plans to bring its next-generation product into production, execute its market strategy, and expand through strategic partnerships in autonomous navigation. The technology aims to increase availability and reliability of precise positioning to democratize autonomous robot applications. The company aims to make high-accuracy position information available to a broader range of applications, including small and low-powered products. Its product suite combines satellite navigation with computer vision to address precise positioning challenges. Fixposition plans to use the new financing to grow its team, expand its product portfolio and enter global markets. Leadership includes co-founders Zhenzhong Su, Lukas Meier, Tonio Gsell and Lorenz Meier, and the company is based in Zurich.
