  • Fixposition

    Participated · Seed · Oct 2021

Fixposition develops high-precision global positioning products that combine computer vision techniques and satellite navigation to deliver accuracy in open fields and GNSS-challenging environments. Its product Vision-RTK2, launched in March this year, improved performance and added a richer interface to meet customer needs. Vision-RTK2 also integrates inertial sensors, wheeled odometers, and machine-learning algorithms to address GNSS blocking/reflection and harsh-light issues for visual odometry. The company says its technology expands GNSS-based positioning to more scenarios to help customers optimize autonomous driving solutions more cost-effectively. Over the past five years Fixposition has continuously improved Vision, IMU and GNSS deep-fusion technology and more than ten companies worldwide, including in the US and China, already use the technology. Fixposition says the recent investment will support its next steps and further product advancements. Fixposition develops centimeter- to decimeter-level global positioning solutions by fusing satellite GNSS with computer vision and machine learning. Its Vision-RTK 2 is a low-power, compact industrial-grade sensor aimed at autonomous delivery and logistics vehicles, agriculture, mowing and landscaping machines, and other applications requiring uninterrupted precise positioning. The Vision-RTK 2 has launched with positive market feedback. Fixposition plans to use newly raised funds to build a stronger sales pipeline and enable mass production, targeting more contracts over the next two years. The company also intends to drive further innovation and refine its technology to simplify integration and prepare for more design-ins. Financially, the extension is presented as part of the seed financing the company raised previously ($5.95 million in October 2021). Fixposition develops deep sensor fusion of RTK-GNSS, IMU, and computer vision to deliver reliable centimeter-accurate positioning where GNSS is degraded or denied. Its core product targets autonomous navigation applications across vehicles and robots, offering a lower-cost alternative to lidar for position awareness. The company cites customers such as Neolix and PIX Moving who are using its technology in robotics. Fixposition began as an ETH Zurich spin-off founded by two ETHZ graduates and its team includes veterans from u-blox and ZF alongside global engineers. With new funding, the company plans to bring its next-generation product into production, execute its market strategy, and expand through strategic partnerships in autonomous navigation. The technology aims to increase availability and reliability of precise positioning to democratize autonomous robot applications. Fixposition, founded in 2017, develops high-precision Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology and computer vision–based navigation devices for professional UAVs, ground robotics and automotive markets. The company aims to make high-accuracy position information available to a broader range of applications, including small and low-powered products. Its product suite combines satellite navigation with computer vision to address precise positioning challenges. Fixposition plans to use the new financing to grow its team, expand its product portfolio and enter global markets. Leadership includes co-founders Zhenzhong Su, Lukas Meier, Tonio Gsell and Lorenz Meier, and the company is based in Zurich.

  • xorlab

    Participated · Series A · Oct 2021

xorlab builds a security SaaS platform that uses machine learning and advanced software analysis to identify and stop emerging attacks on employees, including ransomware and spear‑phishing. The company focuses on enterprise communication defense and an email security solution designed to stop zero‑day and low‑volume personalized attacks. xorlab says its product was built from the point of view of an attacker to detect advanced attacks other solutions miss. Many large Swiss companies (including Julius Bär, Swiss Post, SBB, Swisscom and Implenia) use xorlab to protect employees and automate internal security workflows. The company plans to expand its team and technology, accelerate international expansion across Europe and beyond, and continue product innovation. xorlab was founded in 2015 by ETH Zurich graduates Antonio Barresi and Matthias Ganz and has won Venture Kick and other national recognition. xorlab builds ActiveGuard, a platform aimed at keeping enterprise email and corporate communications safe. The company has found product–market fit in the enterprise market and is focusing on finance, logistics and health sectors. xorlab plans to continue hiring talent to accelerate growth and deliver on its promise of safer corporate communications. The startup raised more than CHF 1.2 million from existing shareholders and new investors to support those plans. xorlab was founded in 2015, was a Venture Kick winner in 2016, and has been among the TOP 100 Swiss startups for several consecutive years. The CEO expects growing sales and revenue and the company is preparing a Series A in Q2/3 2021 to scale enterprise email protection. xorlab is an ETH spin-off that develops machine-intelligent email security solutions. Its security platform, ActiveGuard, detects and filters known and unknown email attacks—including phishing and malware—by analyzing attachments at runtime using machine learning and advanced algorithms. The Zurich-based startup counts private bank Julius Bär, software provider Netcetera and an undisclosed top-five Swiss bank among its customers. CEO and cofounder Antonio Barresi highlighted cybercrime as a major problem for the economy. xorlab announced it raised 1.9 million Swiss francs in a financing round featuring Zürcher Kantonalbank, Hasler Stiftung and veterans from the security and financial-services industries. The capital will be used to accelerate xorlab’s market expansion. Xorlab is a Swiss IT security company that develops dynamic IT security products and services for businesses. Its flagship product is a hardware appliance that integrates into customers' networks to scan data from external websites and email attachments (PDFs, Word, Excel) for threats. The solution is designed to protect organizations against client-side attacks such as spear phishing, watering hole attacks, and drive-by infections that can open pathways into an organization's IT infrastructure. The company already has two pilot customers and plans to deploy its first beta version in a productive environment. Xorlab was awarded CHF 130,000 by the Venture Kick competition as pre-seed capital. Venture Kick also provided direct feedback, mentoring at Kickers' camps and access to a national investor network through its philanthropic private consortium.

  • BugBuster

    Participated · Series A · Nov 2013

BugBuster spun out of the Operating Systems Laboratory at EPFL and offers a cloud-based automated bug detection and testing SaaS for front-end web apps, supporting HTML5 and JavaScript.
