Overview

Flowcarbon builds an open protocol to tokenize live, certified carbon credits and create an on-chain marketplace where project developers can access buyers directly. Its first carbon-backed token, the Goddess Nature Token (GNT), is backed by a bundle of certified nature-based credits issued over the last five years and can be retired, sold, used for borrowing and lending, or redeemed for an underlying real-world credit. The company engaged voluntary carbon market stakeholders to design its tokenization protocol for environmental, financial, and structural integrity. Flowcarbon has announced partnerships with the Centrifuge protocol to unlock debt markets for carbon project developers and with the Layer 1 blockchain Celo; Celo will receive $10 million of GNT to offset its emissions and GNT will launch on Celo. The company says its mission is to drive billions of dollars directly to projects that reduce or remove carbon from the atmosphere by making carbon markets more accessible and transparent. Flowcarbon is led by CEO Dana Gibber, has 35 employees, and maintains offices in New York, Montana, and Berlin. The company announced a $70M financing tied to venture capital and the sale of its carbon-backed token.
