  • Thallo

    Participated · Seed · Nov 2022

Thallo operates a flagship blockchain carbon exchange designed to connect buyers and high-quality project developers directly, aiming to make the voluntary carbon market more efficient, traceable and democratic. The company uses tokenization and web3 tooling to enable buying, selling and retiring of credits with full transparency, and is developing the world’s first two-way carbon bridge with BioCarbon Registry to move credits on and off the blockchain. Thallo plans to accelerate development and marketing of its marketplace following an oversubscribed seed raise. The team combines climate‑tech and blockchain expertise (including co‑founders Ryan Gledhill, Joe Hargreaves and Adam Dry) and includes Hayley Moller leading marketing; the company has ten full‑time staff. Thallo has formed technical and ecosystem partnerships with Ripple, Celo, Polygon and Chainlink and works with project developers such as Biofix, InPlanet, TrendCO2e, UNDO and Ventree Innovations.

  • Flowcarbon

    Participated · Equity · May 2022

Flowcarbon builds an open protocol to tokenize live, certified carbon credits and create an on-chain marketplace where project developers can access buyers directly. Its first carbon-backed token, the Goddess Nature Token (GNT), is backed by a bundle of certified nature-based credits issued over the last five years and can be retired, sold, used for borrowing and lending, or redeemed for an underlying real-world credit. The company engaged voluntary carbon market stakeholders to design its tokenization protocol for environmental, financial, and structural integrity. Flowcarbon has announced partnerships with the Centrifuge protocol to unlock debt markets for carbon project developers and with the Layer 1 blockchain Celo; Celo will receive $10 million of GNT to offset its emissions and GNT will launch on Celo. The company says its mission is to drive billions of dollars directly to projects that reduce or remove carbon from the atmosphere by making carbon markets more accessible and transparent. Flowcarbon is led by CEO Dana Gibber, has 35 employees, and maintains offices in New York, Montana, and Berlin. The company announced a $70M financing tied to venture capital and the sale of its carbon-backed token.

  • impactMarket

    Participated · Equity · Jan 2022

impactMarket launched in late 2020 and operates on the Celo network as a protocol to deliver unconditional basic income via blockchain. To date it has distributed over $1.65 million to almost 25,000 beneficiaries across more than 25 developing countries. The project uses blockchain-native mechanisms including the $PACT governance token, an impactMarket DAO, and an "impact Farming" mechanism that rewards contributors with tokens. impactMarket plans to expand into the poorest countries to drive DeFi adoption and broaden access to financial services such as microcredit, collective savings with rewards, crowdlending, and other tools. The organisation has raised a total of $2.1M to further develop the protocol, decentralize governance, and expand into vulnerable communities. $PACT was sold via a $500K IDO on Polkastarter (reaching its goal in 17 minutes with 2,288 participants) and is listed on Ubeswap and tracked on CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko.

  • Yellow Card

    Participated · Seed · Aug 2020

Yellow Card builds stablecoin payment infrastructure and Global USD Accounts that let businesses hold U.S. dollars, manage treasury operations, swap stablecoins and send or receive local-currency payments across its network. The company has processed more than $10 billion in transactions, supports over 50 currencies and holds licences, authorisations and registrations in 22 jurisdictions across North America, Europe and Africa. It counts strategic partnerships and customers including Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Coinbase, Western Union and others. The company plans international expansion into Latin America, the Middle East, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Its recent financing has brought total equity funding to more than $120 million, which the company says will be deployed to scale product rollout and geographic reach.
