impactMarket launched in late 2020 and operates on the Celo network as a protocol to deliver unconditional basic income via blockchain. To date it has distributed over $1.65 million to almost 25,000 beneficiaries across more than 25 developing countries. The project uses blockchain-native mechanisms including the $PACT governance token, an impactMarket DAO, and an "impact Farming" mechanism that rewards contributors with tokens. impactMarket plans to expand into the poorest countries to drive DeFi adoption and broaden access to financial services such as microcredit, collective savings with rewards, crowdlending, and other tools. The organisation has raised a total of $2.1M to further develop the protocol, decentralize governance, and expand into vulnerable communities. $PACT was sold via a $500K IDO on Polkastarter (reaching its goal in 17 minutes with 2,288 participants) and is listed on Ubeswap and tracked on CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko.
