Overview
Gilmour Space Technologies is a Queensland-based launch vehicle and satellite manufacturer focused on providing domestic and international access to space. Its core product is the Eris small launch vehicle, which completed an inaugural flight in July but failed 14 seconds after liftoff due to an engine issue the team is now addressing. The company also manufactures spacecraft and placed its first satellite, ElaraSat, into orbit via a SpaceX rideshare mission in June 2025. Fueled by rising demand for sovereign launch capabilities, the firm intends to scale production of both rockets and satellites while preparing a second Eris launch attempt targeted for 2026. Management reports a workforce of more than 220 employees and plans to hire aggressively with new capital. The latest raise pushes Gilmour’s valuation above US$1 billion, making it Australia’s first space-technology “unicorn.”
