Adaptive Simulations develops Ingrid Cloud, a scalable cloud service for wind-flow simulations that aims to simplify and speed up computational fluid dynamics for industries such as automotive, aerospace and architecture. The product targets easier, faster simulations compared with traditional, complex CFD tools and is used to model wind in urban environments. The company has around 25 paying customers, including White, Sweco, Vasakronan and Thyréns, and employs 12 people in Stockholm. Adaptive Simulations is a KTH Royal Institute of Technology spin-out founded in 2015. Management says the business can expand into additional industry segments and enable more sustainable product design. The global software and services market for flow simulations is estimated at roughly €9.5 billion. Adaptive Simulations provides cloud-based, fully automated flow simulations to help companies shorten product design cycles, speed time to market, improve accuracy and reliability, and reduce costs. Its simulations are enabled by adaptive algorithms developed from years of research in numerical analysis, computer science and computational fluid dynamics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. The company is a spin-out of KTH and targets industries including automotive and construction. Founded in January 2015 and led by CEO Sebastian Desand, Adaptive Simulations is commercializing its product innovation. The firm recently raised €1.5M in funding to support its commercial efforts.
