Interface is a San Francisco–based startup that applies large language models to automatically review and validate safety documentation, technical drawings, regulations and corporate policies for heavy-industry operators. By surfacing errors and outdated instructions, the platform reduces the risk of catastrophic accidents and dramatically cuts the cost and time required for manual audits. In a deployment across three sites at one of Canada’s largest energy companies, Interface detected 10,800 issues in just 2.5 months—work the customer estimated would otherwise cost more than $35 million and take up to three years. The company charges a hybrid per-seat model with overage fees, and a single contract with that energy customer is worth more than $2.5 million annually. Interface currently has eight employees and is racing to hire more engineers and operations staff to meet demand from additional oil-and-gas clients in Houston, Guyana and Brazil. Longer term, the founders plan to expand beyond oil and gas into other heavy-industry verticals, tapping a U.S. market that alone includes roughly 27,000 oil-and-gas services firms. The startup’s recent seed financing provides capital to accelerate product development, sales, and hiring.
