Intu Diagnostics
Overview
Founded in 2023 in Leipzig, Intu Diagnostics has built an all-in-one diagnostic cartridge that detects pathogen genetic material with PCR-level accuracy without needing a lab, power source, reader, app, or trained staff. Users collect a sample, insert it into the cartridge, and read a colour change within roughly 30 minutes; the kit includes all required components. The startup plans to launch consumer tests in 2027 and aims to expand its platform beyond HPV to respiratory viruses (COVID-19, RSV, flu) and later to STIs, malaria, and tuberculosis. A prototype of the technology was tested in 2020 in Tanzania in collaboration with the Kilimanjaro Clinical Research Institute to diagnose eye infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. Financially, the company has raised over €3 million to date, including a €1.8 million pre-seed in 2024 and the recent €1.1 million bridge. Current priorities include securing IP, developing a manufacturable cartridge, running pilot manufacturing trials, and preparing for a seed round.
