ION Mobility combines hardware and software with human-centred design to deliver smart electric motorbikes and energy charging and storage solutions. Led by Founder and CEO James Chan, the company launched its M1-S electric scooter in Jakarta in November 2022. The M1-S launch coincided with a broad MOU with Indonesia’s national grid operator PLN to expand charging infrastructure and pursue fast-charging research and user outreach. ION says it will invest the new funds into Indonesia to grow its local team, sales and marketing presence, supply chain networks, production tooling and manufacturing capabilities. TVS Motor Company will provide ecosystem support to help ION succeed in the Singapore and Indonesian electric two-wheeler markets. Since 2020 the company has raised over US$25.5 million in total capital.
