Ionblox develops next-generation lithium-ion cells using proprietary pre-lithiated silicon-dominant anodes aimed at high-energy, high-power and extreme fast-charge applications. Its cells enable up to 50% higher energy density, 5x more power and extreme fast charging (10 minutes) versus conventional lithium-ion. The company is producing large-format pouch cells up to 50Ah on pilot production lines and holds more than 40 issued patents covering pre-lithiation of silicon-based anodes. Ionblox has commercial partnerships and test verification, including cell performance verified by Idaho National Lab and a development contract from USABC. It is partnering with Applied Materials and aims to scale technology, develop high-power cells for electric aviation and prototype fast-charge cells for EVs. The company plans to set up its own cell manufacturing in the U.S. and other key markets.
