Overview
Kalray develops processors designed for new intelligent systems that can analyze large amounts of data on the fly, make decisions and interact in real time. Its intelligent processors are being deployed in sectors including new‑generation networks (intelligent datacenters), autonomous vehicles, healthcare, drones and robots. The company serves server manufacturers, intelligent system integrators and consumer product makers such as car manufacturers. Kalray intends to use the recently raised funds to enable commercial deployment of its existing processor and to complete development of a next‑generation processor scheduled for launch in 2019. Financially, the company raised a €10M tranche as part of a larger €23.6M financing package. Kalray was created in 2008 as a spin‑off of the CEA and is based in Grenoble, France; Eric Baissus is president and CEO. Kalray is a fabless semiconductor spin-off from the CEA (founded in 2008) led by CEO Eric Baissus. It develops the MPPA® (Massively Parallel Processor Array) manycore processors that deliver extreme computing, low power consumption and low latency. The MPPA architecture is used in critical embedded technologies, including autonomous vehicles, and for acceleration in data centers. Its technology is protected by over 20 international patents. Kalray intends to use new capital to accelerate commercial exploitation of its current solutions and to launch development of the MPPA® Coolidge, its third-generation microprocessor scheduled for release in 2018. The company has raised over $65M in capital and public funding to date and employs over 65 people across Grenoble and a North American antenna in Los Altos, CA.
