Overview

LeadGenius operates an account-based marketing and outbound sales platform powered by a combination of machine learning and skilled human researchers. The company supplies continually refined B2B data and works with customers ranging from Fortune 500 firms like Google, Square, Box, and eBay to fast-growing companies such as Weebly, NerdWallet, and CareerArc. New funding will be used to add multi-channel capabilities for outbound marketing and sales and to build tools that help customers gain broader market insights and orchestrate outbound campaigns. LeadGenius emphasizes progressive workforce practices and positions itself as a social-enterprise–minded SaaS vendor. The company is based in Berkeley, California and was founded in 2011 by three U.C. Berkeley graduate students. Financially, LeadGenius announced an addition to its Series B that contributes to more than $22 million raised in total. LeadGenius, formerly known as MobileWorks, provides a platform that finds likely sales leads and reaches out to them with automated emails. The company says revenue increased 6x in the past 20 months and counts customers including eBay, Box and Weebly. It announced a $10 million Series B round led by Lumia Capital with participation from several existing and new investors. Lumia Capital’s Martin Gedalin is joining the company’s board of directors. With this round, LeadGenius has now raised more than $21 million in total funding. LeadGenius provides a SaaS-based sales-acceleration solution that combines data analytics with human intelligence to grow across all levels of the sales process. It leverages carefully vetted virtual workers who can advance in compensation and responsibility based on performance and their ability to generate accurate leads. The company has 120 customers. LeadGenius intends to use the new funding to scale the team and further develop its core solution. The company was founded by Anand Kulkarni, Prayag Narula and Dave Rolnitzky and is based in Berkeley, CA. MobileWorks provides a cloud-based virtual workforce that completes microtasks for startups and SMBs, positioning itself as a quality-focused alternative to Amazon Mechanical Turk. Its product includes a web interface and routing technology that matches tasks to the workers best suited for that work; the company originally launched as an API-only service for developers. MobileWorks emphasizes a social mission—paying fair wages, using real names, offering skill development and upward mobility, and enabling self-organization with the top one percent of workers reviewing, training, hiring and firing. The company reports its crowd completed one million commercial tasks since launch and says clients effectively outsourced five continuous years of work in the first year. MobileWorks has shifted its focus from developer tools to a business-facing cloud labor service and is using algorithms to boost quality and optimize task processing. It raised a sizable seed round earlier this year (size undisclosed) to support product expansion and operations.
