Lifebit
4th Floor, 28-29 Threadneedle Street, London, EC2R 8AY, United Kingdom
Overview
Lifebit builds enterprise data platforms that use patented federated technology to securely unlock access to biomedical data. Its platform supports use cases from Trusted Research Environments for national precision medicine programs to enabling pharmaceutical companies to discover new drug targets faster. The company positions itself as a precision medicine software leader for organizations with complex and sensitive datasets. In September 2021 Lifebit closed a $60 million Series B to support its next phase of growth. Proceeds will be used to further global expansion, accelerate hiring, and focus on customer success. The round was led by Tiger Global Management with participation from existing investors Eurazeo, Pentech Ventures, and Beacon Capital. Lifebit Biotech builds Lifebit CloudOS, a bioinformatics platform that enables researchers to visualise and analyse massive amounts of genomic and clinical data. The software offers integrations with open-source tools, a marketplace of proprietary tools, a data and cohort browser, and advanced AI functionality. Lifebit positions its platform to make hard-to-access biobank data — such as the UK Biobank — usable for enterprise clients that include pharmaceutical companies and research institutes. The company says it aims to democratise genomic data to accelerate drug discovery and personalised medicine as sequencing volumes surge. Lifebit was founded three years ago and now has employees, partners and customers across 15 countries. The business is led by CEO Dr. Maria Chatzou Dunford and plans to commercialise its product internationally.
