Lunar Wireless is a mobile carrier that offers a data plan with no monthly fees and without counting gigabytes. The company, co-founded by Thiel Fellows Hunter Rosenblume and Rohith Varanasi, launched nationwide after a year-long pilot. During the pilot it tested business models, pricing and potential partnerships. Its most significant partnership is with BLU Products, with which it is announcing the BLU S1: a $99 phone (shipping included) with a 5.2" HD curved-glass display, 1.5GHz octa-core processor, 13MP main shooter and encrypted fingerprint scanner. Lunar service is available on the BLU S1, Google Pixel and Nexus 6, and devices must be purchased directly from Lunar. The company announced $4.1M in funding to support the nationwide launch.
