Mambu

Piet Heinkade 55, Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, 1019GM, The Netherlands

Overview

Mambu builds a cloud-native SaaS banking platform and APIs that power lending, deposits and other banking products, plus analytics and pre-built integrations. The company serves more than 200 customers and some 53 million end users across roughly 65 countries and handles about 130 million API calls daily. Mambu integrates with partners such as Salesforce, AWS, Google, Marqeta, ComplyAdvantage and Deloitte to make its services play with broader IT stacks. The business works with neobanks (e.g., N26), incumbent banks (e.g., Raiffeisen, BancoEstado, ABN Amro) and newer entrants like telcos and e-commerce firms. Management says it had substantial cash on hand before this raise and plans to use the new capital to expand into more markets, improve its core financial services building blocks, create more pre-built integrations, and explore adjacent areas such as insurance. The company has grown organically so far and says acquisitions are possible in a consolidating market. Mambu offers a cloud-native, API-first SaaS banking platform that enables customers to launch and operate lending, current account and deposit products. The platform supports roughly 7,000 different banking products and integrates with third-party services such as TransferWise, security tools and process-orchestration capabilities. Its customer base includes challenger banks (N26, OakNorth), incumbents (Santander, ABN Amro) and non-bank players (Orange), collectively covering about 20 million end customers and roughly $12 billion under management. The company reports 100% year-on-year growth and is active across 50 markets. Mambu says it will use new funding to deepen its presence in those 50 markets and to expand further into regions such as South America and Asia. The firm operates from Berlin and has U.S. offices established in Miami. Mambu offers an API-based SaaS core banking platform—an agile, scalable, enterprise-grade financial services engine that enables banks, lenders, fintechs and others to move to a cloud-based delivery model. The platform supports more than $7bn in assets under management, 11m end customers and over 6,000 financial products across more than 270 deployments. Led by founder and CEO Eugene Danilkis, the company provides tools for customers to innovate their IT and product offerings. Mambu has more than 170 employees operating on four continents. The company intends to use the new funds to accelerate growth by expanding its sales presence and development capabilities. Mambu is a SaaS banking platform that provides the complete core banking software and infrastructure to bring digital-first banking business models to market. Founded in 2011, it began by servicing micro-lenders in emerging markets and has since expanded with most growth coming from Europe and Asia Pacific. Its customers include fintech startups, challenger banks, consumer- and SME-lending providers, and P2P organizations. The platform added new functionality in the last year, including support for various SME and P2P lending methodologies. In the past 12 months Mambu picked up 30 new customers. The company plans to use new capital to expand its commercial team, invest in the platform, and open new offices in Asia and the Americas. Launched in May 2011 and based in Berlin, Mambu provides a cloud-based platform that enables alternative and micro‑finance providers to manage customer services, replacing legacy systems, home‑grown solutions or spreadsheets. The company targets alternative finance organizations mainly in Africa and South America. Mambu says over 70 micro‑finance organizations in 20 countries use its SaaS, reaching over 200,000 customers and processing thousands of transactions each day. Clients named in the article include SEAP Microfinance (Nigeria), FINCA Costa Rica, and Lenddo in the Philippines and Columbia. CEO and founder Eugene Danilkis emphasizes using technology to improve growth, transparency and accountability in the nascent micro‑finance industry. Mambu plans to use new capital to expand its team of micro‑finance experts, accelerate product development and grow its global customer base.
