Maplin Electronics is a UK specialist retailer offering a broad range of consumer electronics, including home electricals, audio equipment, DIY tools, computers, security equipment, batteries, components, hobbyist/maker electronics and GPS devices. Led by CEO John Cleland, the company operates more than 200 stores across the UK and Ireland and employs over 2,000 technology experts. Customers can purchase products in-store, by phone, online or through a catalog. In 2013 Maplin launched a Click & Collect service allowing online orders to be picked up in-store within 30 minutes. The company recently raised £5m and intends to use the funds to increase sales, broaden its product range and drive innovation.
