Mirthy operates a platform where people aged 60+ can host or participate in free or affordable activities—from fitness classes to lectures and concerts—primarily online with plans to enable offline events. Its content is created and curated "by over-60s for 60s," and most hosts are themselves over 60. The startup says it has amassed over 35,000 users since launching in April 2020. Co‑founders Alex Ramamurthy and Dhruv Haria started the company after observing the effects of social isolation on their parents; Ramamurthy has chaired the Care Innovation Hub incubator and Haria is a Cambridge‑educated actuary and data scientist. Mirthy aims to become the go-to platform for over-60s’ social, physical and financial needs and is building out its product to capture that market. Competitors include The Joy Club, Hello Revel and GetSetUp. The company recently raised funding to accelerate platform development.
