Nanopath

750 Main Street, Cambridge, MA, 02139, United States

Overview

Nanopath develops a proprietary point-of-care molecular diagnostic testing platform focused initially on women’s health. The company has advanced prototypes of a disposable test cartridge and a benchtop readout instrument. It is actively developing a pipeline of test offerings through clinical collaborations with preeminent hospitals in New England. Led by CEO Amogha Tadimety and President and CTO Alison Burklund, Ph.D., co-founder, the company emphasizes improving health equity worldwide. Recent federal grants will fund continued platform and test development. Total funding for the company now exceeds $15M. Nanopath was founded by Amogha Tadimety and Alison Burklund to create women-focused molecular diagnostics informed by their own experiences. The company says its core technology can identify DNA and RNA without nucleic acid amplification technology (NAAT), delivering results within about 15 minutes versus up to two hours for a generic PCR test. Today the technology is able to identify genetic make-ups for human papillomavirus (HPV) and urinary tract infections. The founders aim to deploy the tests across medical offices so clinicians can diagnose and treat patients within a typical 13–16 minute appointment. Nanopath has raised a $10 million Series A to build technical teams and advance pilots, with plans to pursue FDA approval before moving the product mainstream. The company acknowledges it will compete with established national testing providers and sees potential future reimbursement models to support point-of-care use.
