NanoSyrinx develops engineered nanosyringes as a platform technology to deliver peptide and protein payloads, including functional gene editors and enzymes, directly into the cytosol of targeted cells. The platform is based on naturally occurring nanosyringes that the company has re‑engineered for selective intracellular delivery. Led by CEO Dr. Joe Healey, NanoSyrinx is positioning the technology to enable biologic therapeutics against previously 'undruggable' intracellular targets. The company announced it raised approximately £10M to accelerate growth of its platform and the development of its biologic pipeline. The financing includes participation from both strategic corporate and venture investors. The board was strengthened with the appointment of Dr. Edwin Moses as Chairman to support scaling, partnerships and value creation. NanoSyrinx develops protein ‘nanosyringes’, a cell‑selective non‑viral peptide and protein delivery system designed for targeted intracellular delivery. The platform aims to improve efficacy and minimise side effects by addressing cell specificity, payload limitations and manufacturing complexities. Initial applications are expected in the cell and gene therapy space, including potential use in cancer, and the company sees broad applicability across many diseases. The company will use the £6.2m seed investment to investigate applications across therapeutic indications and novel modalities and to undertake proof‑of‑concept studies for in vivo active pharmaceutical delivery and ex vivo cell engineering. Those studies are intended to identify optimal clinical targets and help build a pipeline of programmes for the next growth phase. NanoSyrinx was founded in 2020, is based in Coventry, and was first identified by the Waterfield Lab at Warwick Medical School.
