Overview
Niramai Health Analytix, founded in 2016 by Geetha Manjunath and Nidhi Mathur, develops AI-driven diagnostic tools. Its flagship product, Thermalytix, is a portable, non-invasive, radiation-free and non-contact solution for early-stage breast cancer detection and is clinically validated for women of all age groups. The company says Thermalytix can also be applied to other diagnostic areas. Niramai has over 20 installations in hospitals and diagnostic centres across nine Indian cities and was listed in CB Insights' 2019 AI 100 cohort. The startup raised a $6M Series A and had previously raised a $1M seed in April 2017. It plans to use the new funding to scale operations in India, hire staff, and secure additional regulatory approvals for international expansion. NIRAMAI builds a non-invasive, non-touch, non-radiation breast cancer screening solution called Thermalytix that applies artificial intelligence to thermal images. The hardware-software technology is designed to detect tumours up to five years before mammography or a clinical exam and is described as privacy-sensitive. The company says its method removes technological, logistical and cultural barriers that hinder breast cancer screening. Leadership states the solution can enable much earlier detection to save lives. Management plans to use the recent investment to strengthen the IP portfolio, expand operations, and ready the screening tool for commercial use.
