Founded in 2024 in Copenhagen, Nordic Salt Cycle is engineering a patented molten-salt process to extract lithium, rare earth elements and other critical minerals from spent electric-vehicle batteries, wind turbines and electronics. The modular platform separates and purifies materials with minimal energy use and significantly fewer chemicals than conventional recycling, enabling lower costs and strong unit economics. A working prototype is already delivering higher recovery efficiency than legacy processes, validating the underlying chemistry and scalability. The company plans to commercialise the system with industrial partners, initially targeting battery and permanent-magnet waste streams. Future expansion will apply the platform to additional end-of-life products to close the circular loop for strategic minerals. Nordic Salt Cycle recently secured €3.5 million in pre-seed equity funding to finance commercial pilots and accelerate its go-to-market timeline.
