Overview
Oova offers the Oova Kit, an at‑home FDA‑registered urine test that measures luteinizing hormone and progesterone and provides personalized analytics and real‑time action plans. The product is HIPAA‑compliant and can sync and share results with clinicians through its platform. The company has launched a $99/month Oova Membership that includes the kit, personalized support via an Oova Provider network, and access to a community. Oova says it has trained models on over 10,000 monitored cycles and collects daily hormone measurements across tens of thousands of cycles, and has seen adoption grow across consumer and clinical channels. The platform now works with over 100 clinics (up from 75 at launch) and is being used for use cases beyond ovulation, including early pregnancy and postpartum. Founder and CEO Amy Divaraniya, Ph.D., has indicated the company is eyeing additional phases of women’s health beyond fertility. Oova offers an at-home testing kit and mobile app that quantitatively measures luteinizing hormone and progesterone using disposable urine cartridges, letting users and clinicians track hormone profiles and confirm ovulation. The kit ships with a handle holder, 15 disposable cartridges and an app that scans test results and provides actionable guidance; physicians can also view patient data. The company says its test is unique in measuring both LH and progesterone and tracking hormones over time as an alternative to daily clinical blood draws. Oova was founded in 2017 by Amy Divaraniya, who developed the product based on personal fertility challenges, and the startup is New York–based. The product is priced at $159.99 for a starter kit and $99.99 per month for refills, and the platform is used by over 75 fertility clinics. Oova plans to add estrogen to its panel, expand beyond fertility into other hormonal and chronic health areas, add more features and pursue a rebrand using the new funding. OOVA’s first product is a mail-order fertility monitoring kit containing 20 disposable urine tests that users scan with a smartphone to receive results. The test initially measures luteinizing hormone and progesterone and the companion app tracks those hormones over time to deliver personalized trend reports based on an individual baseline. The company has working prototypes of the device and app, has completed a beta test, and is currently taking pre-orders. The $1 million seed will fund the company’s final push into the market, covering final R&D and manufacturing steps. OOVA already secured a commercial partner, Thorne Research, which will pilot sales by pairing supplements with OOVA diagnostic kits and can leverage a network of over 35,000 clinicians. Looking ahead, the company plans to expand pilots into other areas of women’s healthcare, including postpartum support and ectopic pregnancy-related services. Competitors in the smartphone-connected urinalysis space mentioned include Mira, Inui Health, Healthy.io, Scanwell and TestCard.
