ORiS develops laser-based wireless power transmission (WPT) systems aimed at enabling in-orbit energy distribution for satellites and dual-use applications such as drone charging. The company has demonstrated wireless power transfer to a hovering drone at distances exceeding 100 metres and is commercializing LOONA, a drone charging platform incubated in NATO DIANA's accelerator programme. ORiS is exploring lunar surface power concepts and completed a feasibility study with Thales Alenia Space. Its roadmap includes building critical subsystems, producing a flight model for satellite-to-satellite power transfer, and scaling LOONA toward a commercial product. The startup is led by Politecnico di Torino engineers Andrea Villa (CEO), Anna Mauro (CTO), Domenico Edoardo Sfasciamuro (CCO) and Francesco Lopez (COO). It raised €5 million in combined venture and grant funding to advance R&D, expand its engineering team, and move into laboratory and clean-room facilities.
