- ORiS
Participated · Seed · Jul 2026
ORiS develops laser-based wireless power transmission (WPT) systems aimed at enabling in-orbit energy distribution for satellites and dual-use applications such as drone charging. The company has demonstrated wireless power transfer to a hovering drone at distances exceeding 100 metres and is commercializing LOONA, a drone charging platform incubated in NATO DIANA's accelerator programme. ORiS is exploring lunar surface power concepts and completed a feasibility study with Thales Alenia Space. Its roadmap includes building critical subsystems, producing a flight model for satellite-to-satellite power transfer, and scaling LOONA toward a commercial product. The startup is led by Politecnico di Torino engineers Andrea Villa (CEO), Anna Mauro (CTO), Domenico Edoardo Sfasciamuro (CCO) and Francesco Lopez (COO). It raised €5 million in combined venture and grant funding to advance R&D, expand its engineering team, and move into laboratory and clean-room facilities.
- Random Power
Participated · Equity · Dec 2025
Random Power is an Italian deep-tech company translating quantum physics research into commercially deployable security hardware. Its core product line is a Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) platform, including a QRNG ASIC that embeds quantum randomness directly into IoT and embedded devices and a 64-channel board designed for data-centre and cloud environments. Built on technology created within the EU ATTRACT programme coordinated by CERN, the solution produces high-entropy, non-deterministic numbers critical for post-quantum cryptography and future-proof data protection. The company’s approach is fully compatible with standard CMOS processes, enabling on-chip integration at low power and cost. More than €2.6 million in fresh venture capital will fund the industrialisation and certification of these products, expand the commercial team, and deepen partnerships in Europe and the United States. No revenue or user metrics were disclosed in the article, underscoring the firm’s early-stage status.
- Adaptronics
Participated · Equity · Nov 2025
Founded in 2022 as a spin-off of the University of Bologna, Adaptronics designs, manufactures, and sells electro-adhesive devices based on its proprietary Electro-Active Adhesive Layer (EAAL) technology. EAAL uses electrostatic forces with integrated tactile feedback to let robots grasp objects of any shape or material in under 10 ms and with up to 1,000× the efficiency of conventional pneumatic, magnetic, or mechanical grippers. The solution operates in both terrestrial factories and the harsh vacuum of space, targeting use cases from industrial automation to satellite maintenance, refueling, and debris removal. The company is incubated at I3P (Politecnico di Torino) and is an alumnus of ESA BIC Turin, reflecting strong ties to Europe’s aerospace ecosystem. With a €3.15 million equity round led by 360 Capital and Galaxia already secured and a new €2.5 million EIC Accelerator grant just awarded, Adaptronics is well-funded to accelerate in-orbit validation and commercial rollout. Management aims to position the firm as the European reference point for electro-adhesive robotic gripping technology. No revenue or user metrics were disclosed in the article.
- Astradyne
Participated · Seed · Sep 2025
Astradyne develops ultralight solar panels for space applications, centered on its Solar-Z product. The company intends to use the funds to accelerate development of Solar-Z. Its technologies, conceived for orbit, also find applications on Earth in advanced and specialized contexts. Astradyne completed incubation at I3P and in the ESA BIC Turin incubation program run by I3P with ESA, ASI, Politecnico di Torino and LINKS Foundation. Founded in 2021 and led by CEO Davide Vittori, the company is based in Bari, Italy. It raised seed funding to support product development and growth.
- Novac
Participated · Seed · Mar 2025
Novac develops new supercapacitors aimed at sustainable energy storage and rapid energy release for energy, mobility and industrial applications. The company is headquartered in Modena, Italy, and is led by CEO Matteo Bertocchi alongside Loris Bruzzi, Alessandro Fabbri and Aldo Girimonte. Novac has been part of the Motor Valley Accelerator program (selected in 2021) and, since 2023, has been incubated by I3P within the ESA BIC Turin incubation program. The startup intends to use the newly raised funds to accelerate development of its technology. No revenue or user metrics were disclosed in the article. The product focus is on improving energy storage systems through advanced supercapacitor technology.
