Founded in 2022 by Rasmus Emil Hansen and Sumod Nandanwar, Perplant builds a proprietary box-mounted Edge AI sensor that scans fields in real time from a tractor to enable centimetre-precise spraying. The system delivers 2–10 centimetre resolution imagery and captures photos of individual plants, which the company says supports verification for authorities, banks, and insurers. Perplant claims its technology can reduce herbicide use by up to 90% and fertiliser use by 30%, and estimates an average 200-hectare farm could see an annual profit increase of about €36,000 and recover the investment within a single season. The company reports having mapped over 200,000 hectares across Europe, creating a large precision dataset in the Nordics. Perplant currently has 15 employees and operates in Denmark, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Spain, Ireland and Chile, with plans to expand to the United States, and is backed by investors including Antler and The Footprint Firm.
