Pie is a social app that makes it easy for friends to connect in real life. The company was founded by Andy Dunn, who previously co-founded Bonobos and served as its CEO until Walmart acquired the business in 2017. Dunn has been an angel and VC investor at Red Swan Ventures, backing more than 120 startups including Warby Parker and Coinbase, and he published a memoir titled Burn Rate. He said he was inspired to build Pie after moving from NYC to Chicago mid-pandemic and losing many of his social connections. Twitter co-founder Ev Williams has been closely involved—investing and helping with product development and day-to-day support. With the new financing, Pie has raised $24 million to date.
