Playbook
341 Moultrie St, San Francisco, CA, 94110, United States
Overview
Playbook is a cloud storage and sharing tool built for designers and creatives, presenting assets in a Pinterest-like gallery and applying image tagging and custom machine learning to search image contents and extracted text. It offers collaboration and quick-sharing features, including built-in publishing templates that turn asset sets into live shared pages. Every user starts with a free plan that provides 4TB of storage; the product serves freelancers and creative agencies globally and has grown to more than 50,000 users (up from 1,000 last year). The company formally started by early 2020 in San Francisco and was founded by CEO Jessica Ko and CTO Alex Zirbel. Playbook presently has 14 employees and says it is about a quarter away from figuring out its revenue model. The company plans to use new capital to iterate on the product and hire. Founded in early 2020 by Jessica Ko and Alex Zirbel, Playbook provides a design-centric cloud storage system that automatically imports, tags and categorizes an organization’s media library. The product offers 4TB of free storage and aims to replace Dropbox/Google Drive for creative workflows by improving version control and visual browsing. Playbook says it manages over 3.2 million assets and had about 10,000 users signed up in beta after an initial 1,000-user beta period. The nine-person company is focused first on freelancers and plans to monetize and launch to enterprises next year. Roadmap items include image scanning, similarity, content detection, previewing, long-term cloud storage and multiple integrations. Playbook emerged from stealth concurrent with its seed raise.
