Poptop is an entertainment booking service and online marketplace that connects clients with performers for events. The company was created by Ukrainian entrepreneurs Evgeniy Shestopal (CEO) and Ignat Tkhorovskiy (CTO) and launched on the British market in 2015 after winning a UK government grant and relocating to Newcastle. Poptop says it generates about 250 requests for artist performances monthly. It raised £120,000 in its first funding round in 2017 and has now secured £440,000 from existing investors DSW Ventures and NorthStar Ventures. The company plans to use the new funding to grow its event booking platform, expand internationally and move into new sectors. Poptop hopes to raise a Series A round later this year. Poptop operates a UK events-booking marketplace that lets users search for and provisionally book suppliers for weddings, parties and corporate events. In December 2018 the company launched Instant Quotes, a world-first service that provides accurate pricing, availability and provisional bookings for services from catering and music to photography and transport. Instant Quotes is designed to let users design and coordinate events in hours rather than days, while suppliers who trialled the service reported reduced administration time. The launch followed a £615,000 investment from business angel network Dow Schofield Watts Angels (DSW Ventures) and Northstar Ventures. Established in 2014 and based in Newcastle, Poptop reports over 300,000 customers in the UK and 11,000 suppliers. CEO Eugene Shestapol said the service improves booking experience and customer confidence by showing accurate pricing and availability.
