Overview
PredictImmune develops prognostic tools to guide treatment options and improve patient outcomes in immune-mediated diseases. Its lead product, PredictSURE IBD™, is a CE-marked, truly validated prognostic test that differentiates aggressive versus milder forms of IBD at diagnosis. The company spun out of the University of Cambridge and has launched PredictSURE IBD commercially. The recently completed £10M Series B strengthens PredictImmune’s financial position and supports continued commercial expansion across the UK, Europe, the USA and other markets. The funding also enables expansion of its product development activities within IBD and into additional autoimmune areas including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). PredictImmune aims to build a portfolio of prognostic tests to complement and enrich its pipeline in the coming years. PredictImmune has developed a simple whole-blood prognostic biomarker test based on genetic markers that predicts, at diagnosis, the likely long-term disease course for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis patients. The test aims to identify patients likely to experience severe, relapsing disease so clinicians can choose between standard "step-up" therapy and early biologic "top-down" treatment. The company is sponsoring and supporting prospective evaluation of the test in the multi-centre PROFILE clinical trial, which compares treatment strategies guided by the biomarker. The trial is sponsored by Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Cambridge. PredictImmune previously raised £4.7m in a May 2017 Series A for commercial development of laboratory services and diagnostic kits for use in Europe and the United States. It is also in discussions with multinational pharmaceutical companies about using the test to stratify patients in clinical studies of novel biologic drugs.
