Overview

Prewave is a Vienna, Austria–based provider of an AI-enabled sustainability, risk and compliance platform. Its end-to-end solution automatically maps, scores and monitors millions of supply chain nodes to identify risk signals from vast and fragmented datasets. The platform ingests news and social media content across 400+ languages, company certifications and annual reports, government and NGO data feeds, and sanctions and Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) lists. Over 200 companies, including Lufthansa, Toyota, Ferrari and Dr Oetker, use Prewave to remain compliant and enhance supply chain resilience and sustainability. Prewave raised $67M in a Series B, and intends to use the funds to drive global growth and to support further product R&D on its proprietary AI technology. Prewave operates a holistic supply-chain risk platform that spans every phase of the risk lifecycle—identifying, analyzing, mitigating and reporting risks. It uses a proprietary crawler to ingest publicly available information across dozens of languages, connects to social media and supplements with external sources (for example USGS and GDACS) to detect events such as earthquakes, floods, political unrest, lawsuits and strikes. The company aggregates these signals into dynamic supplier risk scores and provides monitoring used by customers including BMW, Lufthansa and PwC. Prewave says its own crawler allows continuous expansion and improved coverage versus relying solely on external data providers. Headcount grew from about 20 employees at the start of last year to more than 100 today, which the company says mirrors a substantial revenue increase. With the new funding, Prewave plans to double down on recent growth and expand the product and coverage further. Prewave operates an AI-powered platform that analyses millions of online sources in more than fifty languages to detect, categorise and surface risks affecting suppliers. The platform covers a wide variety of risks including human rights issues, sustainability risks and compliance with supply-chain legislation, and it sends risk alerts directly to businesses so they can contact suppliers and mitigate disruptions. Prewave has an impressive client roster that includes ABinBev, AUDI, BMW, Porsche, PWC, Toyota and Zurich Insurance. The company says it has experienced ten-fold revenue growth over the last ten months. With the new funding the team plans to expand the platform’s supply-chain analysis capabilities and drive customer acquisition in new European markets. Co-founded in 2017 by Dr. Lisa Smith and Harald Nitschinger, Prewave is headquartered in Vienna.
